What does the NBP involve?

What does the New Board Program involve?
The New Board Program is a two-year, part-time academic program. In eight modules, including one at the Cambridge Judge Business School (UK), all relevant aspects of Corporate Governance are captured. The program is tailored to fit within participants' busy calenders. The modules have a compact and paced design.

Focusing specifically on the interaction within the so-called governance triangle - executive directors, non-executive directors and stakeholders – the NBP provides:
  • Knowledge, training and practice in corporate governance
  • In-depth insight into boardroom effectiveness and dynamics, and their relation to organizational success
  • Broadening boardroom competencies
  • Interactive group discussions concerning real-life cases, relating to recent real-life situations, dealing with legal, financial and ethical dilemmas
  • Inspiration from qualified faculty and world-class business leaders.
In addition to faculty professors from Nyenrode Business University, professors of other (international) Business Schools as well as guest speakers from the Dutch listed corporate world also cooperate in the program curriculum. “Fireside” Sessions with experienced (non-)executives are organized in each module. Once a year the NBP organizes an “Executive Session,” i.e. a seminar for all NBP participants and alumni on a ”hot” topic in the world of corporate governance. Information and documentation accessed on the NBP Sharepoint platform provide opportunities for extra inspiration, support and interactive contact between participants and faculty.

NBP Certificate
After having completed the NBP, participants will receive the New Board Program Certificate. This certificate has proven to be a meaningful qualification when applying for non-executive board positions.

The involvement of an active Advisory Council guarantees continual updating of the program.
