Research & Publications

Dr. Désirée van GorpResearch into offshoring: Highly educated people are also affected
On behalf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Dr. Désirée van Gorp has made a study of the relocation of activities to foreign countries by Dutch businesses. This study shows that the majority (65%) of the businesses in the Netherlands have not relocated any activities abroad, nor do they have any plans to do so. One can also see an increase in the number of activities that are being brought back. All levels of the population are affected by the relocation of work to foreign countries, from highly educated employees to people who perform less well paid work. Cutting cost is the most important reason for companies to relocate activities abroad, followed by retaining or improving competitiveness. You can read more here. The research results will be presented during an offshoring/outsourcing event on 10 May at Nyenrode. For more information on this event, visit the website.
