Corporate Governance Code still mainly the preserve of large, institutional investors
The Corporate Governance Code is still mainly the preserve of large, institutional investors and is still not sufficiently applied by the smaller pension funds. This is despite the fact that the law also clearly addresses this group regarding its responsibilities as a shareholder. That is the main conclusion of a study by Nyenrode, on behalf of the Corporate Governance Monitoring Commission, regarding compliance with the code by shareholders. Read the press release (in Dutch)

Accountancy in Motion
The book 'Accountancy in beweging' (Accountancy in Motion), edited by Bob Hoogenboom, Marcel Pheijffer and Leen Paape, was published in December. This compilation includes reflections by academics from the Nyenrode School of Accountancy & Controlling on the accountancy profession and the social context in which politicians, regulators, disciplinary courts, clients, public prosecutors and academia critically view this profession. Among other things, the book covers the quality of accountants' audits, liability and ethics for accountants, professional judgement and accountants who stalwartly defend good public administration. This book also poses the challenging question of whether accountancy is an art form.

Study of Management Information in the Healthcare Sector
Due to increasing competition in the healthcare sector, reports and management information are of increasing importance for care institutions. In partnership with ConQuaestor, Nyenrode has made a study of that management information. The study's title is "Management Information in the Healthcare Sector: Straitjacket of Compass?" An understanding of how care institutions deal with their reports can help to make existing reports more concise or to reduce the amount of data in the reports to the essential elements. This is something which will help healthcare managers to perform their task better. For more information on the study, please contact Hans ten Rouwelaar, email: j.rouwelaar@nyenrode.nl.

Research by Atos Interim Management and Nyenrode into making Work more Flexible
Together with Atos Interim Management, Nyenrode has measured the annual Interim Index, a study of how work is being made more flexible in the Netherlands. In this, a new phenomenon has been identified: 'near employees'. This relates to external personnel, including interim managers, who often have a long-term connection with an organization and form a flexible labor reserve that organizations increasingly rely on. These external personnel have strong ties with their clients and vice versa. For more information on this study (in Dutch), visit the website
