US Election FD-Nyenrode Monitor October 2008

DUTCH ENTREPRENEURS AND MANAGERS SUPPORT OBAMA

In cooperation with Het Financieele Dagblad the Nyenrode Business Universiteit conducted a quarterly monitor research among Dutch companies and managers. One of the topics was the U.S. elections. A total of 526 entrepreneurs and managers participated in the study. The research was conducted in October of 2008. The field work for the research was performed by MWM2.

The results show an overwhelming support for Barack Obama. Dutch entrepreneurs and managers have more faith in him than in John McCain regarding all kinds of issues from the fight against terror and bringing the war in Iraq to a successful end to stimulating sustainable entrepreneurship and building good relationships with Europe.

A large majority of Dutch entrepreneurs (75%) and managers (80%) believes the US President is a (rather) significant power in the world economy. About 15% of the entrepreneurs and managers think the result of the election will have some or even a significant influence on their companies in one way or another.
