Saskia van Ewijk MA MSc

Role at Nyenrode: Lecturer, PhD Candidate
Expertise: Monetary Economics

Saskia van Ewijk is PhD Candidate at Nyenrode’s Center of Finance. She holds a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the Universiteit van Amsterdam and received her Master’s degree in Financial Management (with honors) from Nyenrode Business Universiteit in 2009. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree (honors) at University College Utrecht.

Saskia’s PhD research concerns the banking industry after the credit crisis. The financial crisis has exposed serious flaws in the financial system. Whereas most media attention focuses on greed and incompetence, some structural flaws deserve more academic interest. They relate to banks’ choice of business model, their growth strategy, the way bank supervision is organized and the procyclical effects of financial integration in the Eurozone. Saskia’s empirical research papers tackle these topics with a focus on financial stability.

In addition to her research, Saskia van Ewijk lectures Managerial Economics in Nyenrode’s MSc program.
