Seminar 'AI & Ethics'

May 30 2018, 3:00 PM

Information

The recent insights in what happened around Facebook and Cambridge Analytica are real world examples how things turnout wrongly. Is it ethical that Facebook tracks non Facebook users, just because they can and they serve their earnings model?

Is it ethical that Facebook knows more of you than even your closest friends and makes use of this to provide you with just the  information and ad’s you “need”? Is the AI of Google leading you into a tunnel vision on the world, delivering you search results that closely fits your profile? Is it ethical of Google to show you biased news and search results?

AI will revolutionize the way we look at data and our business models will change rapidly. Technology is once more revolutionizing the economy and the society. To maintain social control, the AI revolution requires new legal frameworks. AI forces us to rethink and re-apply the fundamental legal concepts of ownership, rights, and social justice.

AI will democratize the digital world if we find the right way to organize transparency. How can AI be made to benefit the people and not only the large corporates developing it? AI poses fundamental questions about how we want to live our lives, together with others in a digital society. Key in this is a trusted relationship of the individual with the AI’s that surround him/her. How can AI respect and promote the freedom of the people?

During this seminar we will not only discuss the technology part of this debate, but will emphasize on the ethical side of AI discussion. How do we, as a human society, relate to AI?
