University teaching qualification program

University teaching qualification program

The quality of the teaching staff and their academic and professional development are of paramount importance to Nyenrode. After all, this determines the quality of the education delivered to our students and participants. Since 2014 nearly all Nyenrode lecturers have earned their Basic Teaching Qualification (Basis Kwalificatie Onderwijs) certificate. In 2017-2018, we launched the BKO program for external faculty who are hired to teach in Nyenrode programs. For these faculty members Nyenrode Business University offers partial BKO-certificates based on the experience the faculty member has in the different educational competencies. In the academic year 2019- 2020 the BKO committee signed 66 partial certificates and 15 full BKO certificates for 52 faculty members.

Professionalization program

Nyenrode’s Academic Services Center has set up a professionalization strategy for the upcoming years. This program is in line with the new strategy of Nyenrode and its purpose. In this professionalization program, a distinction is made between developing and securing competence development of educational leadership and developing competences in the field of senior teaching. The target group of this professionalization program is primarily internal faculty.

Senior Kwalificatie Onderwijs (SKO)

The SKO (Senior Qualification Education) program is intended for senior lecturers of the internal faculty with responsibility for innovation and coordination in university education. The SKO program inspires the participants to get started with educational innovation, and offers an inspiring, in-depth program (one year) additional to the BKO. The focus in this process is on excellent education; evidence-based improvement of education at the level of the course and curriculum. The SKO offers senior lecturers the opportunity to further develop didactic and educational skills. In the academic year 2019 -2020, more than five faculty members started with their SKO project and one faculty member has already completed his SKO portfolio successfully.
