Business Processes and Technology

The environment in which organizations operate is changing rapidly. There is broad consensus that we more-and-more live in a VUCA world: Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous. The corona crises, environmental issues (climate-change, energy-transition, shortage of raw materials), Brexit and the introduction of a wide range of new (information) technologies are few examples of this. It is evident that organizations have to adapt to this VUCA environment.

The ‘classic’ organizations based on keeping the various silo’s together through the paradigm of 'command & control' cannot function efficiently and effectively in a VUCA environment. Rather, organizations should excel on "sense & respond", i.e. it is important to constantly monitor what is going on and be able to respond quickly. Such organizations are therefore responsive, agile, lean and customer-oriented.

One of the major issues that organizations are confronted with today is how we can transform organizations from the current to the desired form. In such transitions, Business Processes and Technology (BPaT) play a pivotal role.Technology has made its way into all company processes, therefore directly affecting your staff's and customer's experiences with your organization. Do you feel your business processes could be more efficient and customer focused? Or is your organization strongly influenced by technological developments?

Our module Business Processes and Technology provides you with insight in your organization's challenges, teaches you how to improve business processes and shows you the role technology plays.

What will you get out of it?

  • Greater understanding of business processes and technology's role therein.
  • A clear idea about the evaluation criteria for business processes.
  • Experience with designing, improving and implementing business processes.
  • You work in a team of fellow professionals from various sectors.
  • A complete decision making process for your own working practice. You present your suggested improvements to a core process to the Executive Board.
  • A certificate that proves you have successfully completed the module.
  • Content matches the participants' work practice
  • Developing by learning from each other
  • Modular program design

What are you going to do?

The module Business Processes and Technology looks at business processes and the role technology plays. There are three blocks of two days:

  • AsIs - Process Processes Basics and managing necessary trade-offs: the fundamentals of BPaT within and between organizations;
  • ToBe: How the changing (global) environment calls for a different BPaT paradigm: Lean, Agile and Supply Chain Collaboration;
  • The transformation ahead: establishing the required changes in BPaT practices.
