Change Management & Organizational Development
The situation
Dutch employees face a rapidly changing corporate environment. Organizations experience the consequences of disruptive (digital) innovations in products, services and procedures. They are confronted with 'wicked problems and challenges'. Employees of Dutch organizations with a small home market operate in an increasingly globalized world in which their learning and achieving abilities are challenged more and more. Only by consistently and sustainably investing in people, as well as in innovative products and services, can organizations provide their employees with a workplace safeguarding continued good health and personal and professional development.
The challenge
Continued innovation is a condition for survival for any business, but it has a downside. Continuously forcing new developments demands sustained adaptability from staff. Transitions often miss their mark, because an organization can only process a limited amount of new initiatives, and secondly, is confronted with wicked problems and challenges. Management and staff may feel challenged, but also overwhelmed. To survive continual rounds of 'experiments', investing in the sustainable employability of staff is essential. How can we find a healthy balance between 'reinventing' an organization and building resilience within its staff?
The options
In our MBA module Change Management & Organizational Development, you will learn that organizational change needs a design-oriented approach. Targeted interventions are needed to achieve strategic goals that lead to better results. Human Resources Management (HRM) supports this approach by influencing people's values and behaviors, in order to improve results/profits.Human Resources Development (HRD) supports the design-oriented approach by improving the learning capacities of both employee and organization, guaranteeing employability now and in the future.
