Daniëlle Melis (1972) joined Nyenrode Business University as a PhD Researcher and is Assistant Professor in various Nyenrode degree and executive programmes as of May 2009. Danielle teaches both Corporate Governance as well as Strategic Alignment. Currently, Danielle conducts her PhD research in the field of Corporate Governance, in particular Shareholder Engagement and Shareholder Dialogue.
Danielle is a member of the Center Corporate Goverance & Law. She is actively involved in contract research of Nyenrode in the field of Corporate Governance. Both in 2010 and in 2011 she headed the research teams for the Dutch Monitoring Committee Corporate Governance, researching compliance to the Dutch Corporate Governance Code, and voting- and engagement behavior of Dutch and foreign institutional investors.

Daniëlle has extensive experience as a banker. From 1996-2009 she worked for MeesPierson, NIBC and Rabobank in various senior positions, both in The Netherlands as well as in London. Her expertise varied from business development, investment banking, capital markets to corporate banking.
Daniëlle holds a Master in Business Economics from Tilburg University (cum laude, 1995) and an MBA from Nyenrode Business University (valedictorian, 2002). As part of an exchange program she also holds certificates in Managerial Economics and Money & Banking from UCLA, University of California, Los Angeles (1995).
