Nyenrode Business Universiteit is situated on a 60 hectare estate. The country park in the English style was largely created between 1915 and 1920 and includes a deer enclosure as well as many other notable features.
Dotted with woodland, our estate changes appearance with the seasons. In spring, the castle gardens transform in a sea of color, boasting snowbells, crocuses, hyacinths, woodland tulips and daffodils, among many other species of flowers.
In fall, our woodlands change into a paradise for mushrooms (and mushroom enthusiasts!). In the past decades, no less than 1300 species of mushroom have been discovered. The Nyenrode estate is widely known as the jewel in the Dutch mycological crown. If you are keen for a visit, September and October are the best months.
Another gorgeous part of the estate is our rosarium, housing thousands of roses. It was designed by renowned garden designer Leonard Springer in the early 20th century. You can see our roses in bloom from early summer until late in the fall. The arbor within the rose garden was acquired by Jacques Goudstikker in 1936. It is a sundial and has inscribed the Latin horas non numero nisi serenas – I only count the sunny hours. You can find an identical one, dating from 1786-1788, in the Jardin des Plantes in Paris.
