• 1947: after liberation, he studied chemical technology at the Technisch Hogeschool in Bandung
• 1948-1962 Jesuit training Indonesia, the Netherlands and Germany, consisting of studies and practical experience in addition to teaching:
• 1948-1950, 1961-1962 in Indonesia: spirituality, study and practice and in-depth study of Eastern culture
• 1950-1955 in Indonesia and 1957 in Nijmegen : philosophy(thesis: “Plato’s eudemonia”)
• 1957-1961in Maastricht: theology (theological thesis: “The theory of evolution of Teilhard de Chardin in the area of tension between natural sciences and theology”)
• 1955-1957 in Indonesia and 1957-1960 in Cologne: physics (alongside theology, specialization in school physics, didactics in teaching physics)

Work experience
After the HBS training
• 1940-1942: chemical technician at the sugar factory on Java (Madiun) in chemical-technical operation
• 1942 soldier in the allied army, followed by 5 years’ concentration camp.
• 1947-1948 technician for the reconstruction of industry in Bandung, Java
• 1950-1952: teacher at the elementary school in Semarang on Java
• 1955-1957: teacher in secondary school for mathematics and physics in Magelang on Java
• 1962-1978 teacher at the State University Gadjah Mada and Higher Institute for Education in Yogyakarta, Indonesia as chief lecturer/professor in theology, philosophy, political science and ecological technology
• 1963-1975 marine chaplain and teacher at the Marine Officers training in Indonesia
• 1979-1993 Nyenrode Business Universiteit as campus moderator and training in communicative skills and intercultural issues; guest lectures and training in export management.
• 1985-now business consultant and guest lecturer (business and psychology) in Jakarta-Semarang, Indonesia
• 1962- now (in Indonesia 1962-1978, in the Netherlands 1978-now, in Germany 1978-now): part-time student chaplain for Indonesian students
• 1962- now (in Indonesia 1962-1978, in the Netherlands 1978-now): part-time hospital chaplain
