This year, once again, the master’s degree programs of Nyenrode Business University receive high ratings for practical orientation and the connection with the corporate world and the government. This is evident from the Keuzegids Masters 2023 (Resource Guide Masters 2023) that was published last week. The students are in particular above average satisfied with the master’s degree programs Controlling, Executive Master of Finance & Control and Management.

ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) dominates discussions in the boardroom. The reason for the growing importance attached to ESG is that it will significantly affect the landscape in which companies and boards operate.

The EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is transforming ESG reporting. Starting from 2024, almost 50,000 companies are subject to mandatory sustainability reporting, including non-EU companies which have subsidiaries operating within the EU or are listed on EU regulated markets.

Just like the last three years, Nyenrode’s Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BScBA) program has once again been selected by Keuzegids Universiteiten (Resource Guide Universities) as best education program in the Netherlands in the International Business category. In addition, the BScBA is awarded a shared third place as one of the five top programs in the Netherlands. Students rated the professional career preparation ‘excellent’, and they are positive about the didactic skills, guidance and involvement of lecturers and professors.

Sustainable transformation of organisations first of all requires transformation of leaders themselves, as emerged during the first meeting of the recently established ESG Innovation Institute, a joint initiative of Nyenrode Business University and KPMG to assist directors, supervisory directors and professionals in the field of sustainability.

“More than a quarter of all employees across the Netherlands experience discrimination. Consequently, neither employees nor organisations flourish. You miss out on significant opportunities, and lose out socially and financially. Diversity brings prosperity to all.” This argument was presented by Ruben Brave, keynote speaker and serial tech entrepreneur on 4 October 2022 during the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion seminar at Nyenrode Business University.
