The Visiting Scholar Program

As an academic institution committed to international cooperation and exchange, Nyenrode welcomes talented visiting scholars to come to Breukelen and/or Amsterdam.

As a visiting scholar at Nyenrode you will be an academic active in the fields of its five Expertise Centers. Your visit can range from one to six months and you are welcome to join all year round.

During this time, you will work on your research project, ideally in collaboration with one of the Nyenrode scholars or academic team. Additionally, you can participate in activities and events organized by Nyenrode. We would like to invite you to share your expertise and findings in a masterclass or 'Brown Bag Presentation' with our staff and (PhD) students.

Facilities

As a Visiting Scholar you are not a University employee. Your legal status will be that of a guest staff. Nyenrode may offer you partial, financial support. However, please note you will not be financially compensated be responsible for the large part, if not all, expenses for your travel and stay.

However, Nyenrode will be pleased to offer all required support to facilitate your visit to the Netherlands and make sure you are off to a great start. 

You’ll enjoy the following facilities during your visit:

  • access to the university library;
  • a personal Nyenrode account;
  • a flexible workplace;
  • a desktop;
  • supervision in the execution of the research plan;
  • participation in valuable workshops, seminars and other faculty-related activities;
  • use of the available accommodation on our Breukelen campus
  • receive support of the International Office in arranging practical matters such as your visa, insurance, bank account, etc…

Eligilibity

You are eligible to apply if you are PhD candidate, postdoctoral fellow, assistant professor, associate professor or full professor (or equivalents of these ranks). You should have a strong research profile as measured against your career stage. Your profile must align with Nyenrode’s Mission and Vision Statement.

How to apply

Interested in joining Nyenrode as a Visiting Scholar? Please send your application (in English) to the Director of the Expertise Centers under which you wish to carry out research. Your application must include:

  • a cover letter incl. the project title of the proposed research, the planned dates of the visit, and a statement of motivation.
  • a research plan (400-800 words).
  • copy of candidate's passport.
  • a detailed CV.
  • a list of publications.
  • a letter of recommendation, preferably from a Nyenrode faculty member.

Only complete applications will be taken into consideration.

Deadline

You are welcome to join Nyenrode all year round, however, please submit your application at least four months prior to your preferred start date. This will allow enough time to arrange your visa and other practical matters.
