Dr. Jessica van Wingerden is a research fellow and guest lecturer at the Center for Strategy, Organization & Leadership.
Van Wingerden takes an integrated approach to researching sustainable motivation and employability of employees in a changing context. Her research focuses on psychological, sociological, and business aspects of motivation, behavior, and development from both top-down and bottom-up perspectives. She pays particular attention to the role of meaningful work, enthusiasm, leadership, personal control, and the impact of interventions on individuals, organizations, and society.
Van Wingerden uses various methodologies and methods in her research, ranging from quantitative multivariate, SEM, and multi-level approaches to qualitative methods, including intervention studies and action research.
Van Wingerden obtained her PhD in 2016 at Erasmus University Rotterdam within the Department of Work and Organizational Psychology with a dissertation on positive organizational interventions. Prior to that, she obtained master's degrees in sociology, change management, and business administration, and a bachelor's degree in HRM. Her integrated approach to organizational issues stems from these different disciplines.
She has presented at various renowned international conferences. Her work has been published in the Journal of Human Resource Management, the Journal of Managerial Psychology, the Journal of Vocational Behavior, Career Development International, and the Journal of Positive Psychology, among others. She has also published a variety of chapters, management articles, books, and conference reports.
Van Wingerden works as a director, supervisor, researcher, and author and has more than 20 years of experience in management and executive positions in various sectors. In her daily work, issues at the intersection of people, organizations, and society are central.
