Biography

Ir. Paul Touw is a Lecturer and affiliated with the Center for Accounting, Auditing & Control.

Touw teaches courses in data analysis, statistics, and auditing across several of Nyenrode’s programs. He teaches Data Science in Auditing within the Master of Science in Accountancy and is also responsible for Statistical Estimation & Testing and Sampling & Regression Analysis in the Bachelor's in Accountancy program. In addition, he contributes to the Statistical Methods & Techniques course within the Premasters TAKS program. He is passionate about delivering high-quality education and making abstract and complex subjects accessible to students. Translating statistical concepts and data analytics into practical, understandable knowledge is one of the key drivers behind his teaching.

Touw studied Civil Engineering at Delft University of Technology. Alongside his work at Nyenrode, he is affiliated with Windesheim University of Applied Sciences, where he teaches within the Industrial Engineering and Management program. His expertise lies at the intersection of data analytics, statistics, and auditing, helping students apply quantitative methods to contemporary challenges within the accounting profession.

Drawing on his technical background, extensive teaching experience, and practice-oriented approach, Touw makes complex analytical techniques accessible and relevant to students. In his courses, the focus extends beyond technical knowledge alone. He encourages students to think critically, take ownership of their learning, and develop the confidence to apply analytical methods independently in professional settings.

By placing responsibility for learning with the student, Touw encourages initiative, curiosity, and continuous professional growth. His goal is to help develop accountants and other professionals who take responsibility for their own development and create value for organizations and society through critical thinking and analytical insight.

International Activities

On behalf of Windesheim University of Applied Sciences, Touw is involved in the international KA220 project UPSIDED. Within this collaboration, he works alongside partners from several European higher education institutions, including Haute École Louvain en Hainaut (Mons, Belgium), Université de Technologie de Belfort-Montbéliard (France), and Dalarna University (Falun, Sweden). This international partnership focuses on knowledge exchange and innovation in higher education.
