Prof. Dr. Barbara Majoor RA has decided to step down from her position as Rector and member of the University Board of Nyenrode Business University at the end of her current term on December 1, 2025. From December 1, 2021, to October 1, 2024, she served as Vice-Rector, after which she was appointed as Rector. Following the conclusion of her board term on December 1, 2025, she will continue her appointment as Professor of Accountancy.
Barbara Majoor (Rector): “After an intensive and inspiring period as (Vice-)Rector of Nyenrode Business University, I have decided not to pursue a second term as Rector. I have fulfilled this role with full commitment and dedication, and I look back with pride on what we have achieved together. In recent years, we have taken important steps in strategic educational innovation, including the repositioning of the MBA program, the PhD school, and the renewal of the business administration and accountancy programs, in which personal leadership development has taken on a more prominent role. I am also proud of the successful accreditation processes on our path toward Triple Crown accreditation."
"The close collaboration with colleagues across all levels of the organization – from the board, faculty, and program staff to support services – reflects the values I stand for. The conversations and initiatives with our active alumni community and corporate partners have also been enriching and inspiring."
"After my board term ends on December 1, I will fully refocus on my academic passion, innovating accountancy education and training the next generation of financial professionals.”
Petri Hofsté (Chair of the Nyenrode Foundation Board): “We respect Barbara Majoor’s decision and thank her for her leadership in the role of (Vice-)Rector over the past years. During a very challenging period, Barbara contributed to the development of education and research at Nyenrode and to the continuity of governance. She did so with great passion, dedication, and commitment to the Nyenrode community. We are confident that with all the experience she has gained in recent years, Barbara will continue to be of great value to education and research at Nyenrode in her role as professor.”
