Nijenrode Castle is more than a building. It is the proud face of Nyenrode Business University and a beloved landmark of the Vecht region.

For over 750 years, it has stood as a beacon of history, inspiration, and belonging. For countless generations of alumni, it was the heart of their most formative years — a place where friendships were born, ideas took flight, and futures were shaped.

Today, our Castle is at risk.

Its foundation is sinking, its walls are cracking, and treasured parts are becoming unusable. Without urgent action, we risk losing this irreplaceable piece of heritage.

Three major restorations are essential:

• Renovating the bell tower
• Restoring the quay wall
• Reinforcing the foundation

The first step is the bell tower — the most urgent project. Thanks to a generous subsidy from the Province of Utrecht, we can begin. But the funds fall far short of what is needed. Nyenrode itself is making a major investment, yet the future of the Castle depends heavily on the support of alumni, neighbors, and friends.

Become a Castle Friend

As a Castle Friend, you help bring this unique place back to life — not only for us, but for the generations still to come. Together we can ensure the Castle remains where it belongs: at the very heart of Nyenrode.

• Friends give € 1,000 per year, for a period of 5 years or more.
• Good Friends give € 2,500 per year, for a period of 5 years or more.
  

Good Friends are also offered a place in a 'Collegereeks' of their choice — an inspiring journey of learning, step by step, into a theme full of fresh ideas and insights (in Dutch and in person on campus).

• Young Friends donate €500 per year, for a period of 5 years or more.
  Young Friends are 35 years old or younger.

Every Friend is welcomed each year at the Friends Gathering during the opening of the academic year, the Dies Natalis, and other special events created especially for Castle Friends.

And there’s more: donations to the Nyenrode Fund are tax-deductible for Dutch taxpayers. Depending on your income, the actual cost of your gift may be 40% less — meaning your generosity goes even further.
