Prof. dr. Edgar Karssing

Prof. Dr. Edgar Karssing is Professor of Philosophy, Professional Ethics and Integrity Management at Nyenrode Business University. He is part of Nyenrode's Faculty Research Center for Entrepreneurship, Governance & Stewardship.

Karssing is a well-known thought leader in the field of professional ethics and integrity management in the Netherlands. He has (co-)written and co-edited over 20 books and published over 200 articles and chapters in professional journals and books. He is a regular contributor to the Dutch magazine Compliance, Ethics & Sustainability Journal (formerly: Journal for Compliance).. He was the winner of the National Compliance Award 2010.

His strength is making research results from very diverse fields such as philosophy, psychology, biology, and sociology accessible to business leaders, after enriching those findings with his own ideas. He discusses topics such as moral courage, dealing with dilemmas, trust, tax ethics, the ethics of data & analytics, privacy, etcetera with professionals, managers, ethics and compliance officers, directors and supervisory board members.

Edgar received his Masters degree from Rijksuniversiteit Groningen in both Economics and Philosophy. He participated in education (business ethics) and research (quality of life) at Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam and in education (business ethics and philosophy of management) at Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. He has completed a PhD thesis on integrity in theory and practice. His inaugural lecture at Nyenrode Business University followed in 2022.
