Biography

Prof. Dr. Haico Ebbers is Professor of International Economics at Nyenrode Business University. He is part of Nyenrode's Faculty Research Center for Entrepreneurship, Governance & Stewardship.

Ebbers studied International Economics and macro-economics at the university of Groningen. In 1991 he joined Nyenrode and completed his PhD in 1996. Ebbers is guest professor at various national and international universities, including some top universities in China. He was visiting professor at China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai between 1995 and 2006 and at Renmin university in Beijing (2010-2023). Today, he is active as visiting professor at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU)- IBSS in Suzhou. Furthermore, he is associate faculty at SP Jain School of Global Management in Singapore, Dubai, and Sydney and is visiting professor at VinUniversity in Hanoi-Vietnam. He is recognised as one of the leading thinkers in the field of EU-China economic relations.   

In his (Dutch) books on globalization, he discusses the trend of globalization, the development of emerging economies and the way globalization will affect international operating companies. The focus of his latest book on China (2019) “Unravelling Modern China” is on debunking many of the misconceptions about China by (mostly) Western managers, policymakers, and media. In 2023, his book on New Economic Powers has been published. In “The Rise of the New Economic Powers and the Changing Global Landscape”, he discusses the structural development of the largest emerging economies and the way these nations may change the process and outcome of globalization.
