Biography

Prof. mr. dr. Dennis Post is Professor of Tax & Technology and affiliated with the Center for Corporate Reporting, Finance & Tax.

As Professor of Tax & Technology, Post focuses on the impact of emerging technologies on taxation in the broadest sense. His research explores three central questions: what knowledge and competencies tax professionals need to use technology responsibly, how emerging technologies can be applied to support and enhance tax practice and tax administration, and what tax law and tax policy implications arise from the use of these technologies. In addition to his research activities, he is responsible for the Tax & Technology course and contributes to educational innovation within Nyenrode’s MSc programs in Fiscal Economics and Tax Law, particularly in relation to developments such as generative artificial intelligence. Post is energized by exploring technological innovations and translating these developments into educational practice, helping students prepare for the future of the profession.

Post studied Tax Law and Fiscal Economics at the University of Groningen, graduating in 2002. In 2012, he obtained his PhD from the University of Amsterdam. His doctoral dissertation, The Influence of Interest Amendments on Loss Relief, examined the impact of changes in ownership interests on the use of tax losses.

Alongside his academic role, Post serves as a Tax Partner at EY within the Financial Services practice. He is also a lecturer at the University of Amsterdam and the Dutch Association of Tax Advisors (NOB), and serves as an editor of the online tax technical magazine TaxTech. He is a frequent speaker at national and international conferences and regularly publishes in leading professional and academic journals on taxation, technology, blockchain, and digital innovation.

Post’s work closely reflects Nyenrode’s mission of shaping responsible leaders for the future. He believes that expertise in both taxation and technology is essential for tomorrow’s tax professionals, as these fields are becoming increasingly interconnected. His personal mission is to equip current and future tax professionals with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to thrive in a rapidly changing environment where technology plays an ever-greater role. In doing so, he contributes to Nyenrode’s core values of leadership, entrepreneurship, and stewardship.
