Behaviour, Culture & Governance

The Power of Behaviour, Culture & Governance

Leadership in a world full of paradoxes

Successful organizations do not merely manage figures and plans; they understand their organization as a living system. In an era of continuous change, this requires leaders who can handle uncertainty, tensions, and conflicting interests.

The Behaviour, Culture & Governance program focuses on navigating these paradoxes. Think of the tension between control and trust, or between efficiency and innovation. From the perspective of organizational ecology, you will develop an understanding of the interplay between culture, behaviour, leadership, and governance, while gaining the tools to create sustainable value for various stakeholders.

The program is characterized by:

  • Organizational ecology as a starting point;
  • Integration of behaviour, culture, and governance;
  • Working with the AEM-Cube® model;
  • Learning from your own organizational challenge;
  • Small-scale education with intensive interaction and peer learning.

What makes Behaviour, Culture & Governance unique?

Many programs focus on leadership, culture, or governance as separate themes. Behaviour, Culture & Governance instead approaches these issues in their mutual coherence.

The program is distinguished by:

  • Systems thinking and organizational ecology as a foundation: You learn to understand organizations as dynamic systems where context, relationships, and development are central.
  • Behaviour, culture, and governance combined: You gain insight into the interaction between culture, behaviour, leadership, decision-making, and governance.
  • Working with organizational growth phases: Using the S-curve, you learn to recognize what development phase an organization is in and which interventions match it.
  • Insight into natural contributions via the AEM-Cube®: You receive a personal profile that provides insight into your natural contribution to growth, change, and sustainable performance.
  • Recognizing and managing paradoxes: You learn to make tensions—such as innovation versus control, trust versus management, and growth versus stability—productive.
  • Concrete perspectives for action: You directly translate insights into current issues from your own daily practice.

Result

You learn to understand organizational dynamics, interpret complex issues within their context, and design targeted interventions that contribute to sustainable performance and organizational development.

Program Structure

The program consists of five modules of 2 days each. In these modules, different perspectives on governance, behaviour, and culture are interconnected:

  1. Setting the Scene
  2. The Governance – Emergence Paradox
  3. The People – Culture Paradox
  4. The Behavior – Control Paradox
  5. Integrating Sustainable Performance

The modules cover themes such as scenario analysis, leadership, cultural change, moral decision-making, and the balance between innovation, growth, and control.

Learning in Your Own Practice

An essential part of the program is working on your own organizational challenge. In peer coaching groups (intervisie), you analyze a concrete dilemma and work toward a well-founded piece of advice.

Throughout the program, theory is continuously connected with practical experiences, case studies, and reflection. Participants are challenged to directly apply their knowledge and insights within their own context. The resolution of this challenge culminates in a presentation at the end of the program, where proposed solution directions are shared and discussed.
