Dr. Ir. Taher Ahmadi (1986) has been appointed Professor of Supply Chain Management & Transformation at Nyenrode Business Universiteit, effective August 1. The chair is part of the Nyenrode Center for Marketing & Supply Chain Management.

Dr. Ir. Ahmadi is an expert in the fields of supply chain, operations, and process management. His academic work focuses on topics such as chain collaboration, digitalization, resilience, and sustainability. He is actively involved in various international research projects and regularly publishes in leading academic journals. He earned his PhD from Eindhoven University of Technology in 2019. Since then, he has been affiliated with Nyenrode, first as an assistant professor and later as an associate professor.

“In today’s highly interconnected and rapidly changing business environment, supply chains are facing increasing complexity and volatility, partly due to the growing frequency and impact of disruptive events. The traditional approach to supply chain management is no longer sufficient to address these challenges. My research is dedicated to developing future-proof supply chain ecosystems, leveraging technology to make supply chains more efficient, resilient, and sustainable—creating value for both businesses and society,” says Prof. Dr. Ir. Taher Ahmadi.

Prof. Dr. Jack van der Veen, Professor of Supply Chain Management and Chair of the Appointment Advisory Committee, adds: “Due to international developments such as geopolitical tensions, demographic shifts, resource scarcity, and the urgent need for sustainability, supply chains are becoming increasingly vulnerable. This directly affects the core operations of organizations and calls for fundamental transformation. It is therefore crucial that Nyenrode responds to these developments with this new chair. In Taher Ahmadi, we have found an excellent candidate: a knowledgeable and committed academic, a valued lecturer, and someone with vision and leadership.”

Prof. Dr. Ir. Kitty Koelemeijer, Professor of Marketing and Director of the Center for Marketing & Supply Chain Management, also emphasizes the importance of this appointment: “With the appointment of Taher Ahmadi, Nyenrode strengthens its position in the field of Supply Chain Management, which is more relevant than ever. Technological, economic, and geopolitical developments demand innovation and transformation. Through this chair, Taher will make a valuable contribution to research, education, and business practice.”
