Nyenrode's Bachelor of Science in Business Administration is a three year academic degree focused at young and ambitious students that want to take part in the business world. The program is based on six main topics: organization, strategy, research & academic services, finance, marketing, and personal development.

This program has the Personal Leadership and Development Journey (PLDJ), which will help guide the students into finding what type of leader they are, what motivates them, and what they’re passionate about. Mandatory sports are part of the program, building a strong sense of discipline and teamwork.

Our program is designed to help you achieve your goals and reach your full potential. We will focus on your leadership development and will provide a unique combination of academic knowledge, practical relevance, and personal growth.

Our intensive three-year academic program has an international focus and is taught in English. You will join a close knitted community of like-minded students in small groups of no more than 35 students. You can choose your own Nyenrode Experience – whether you prefer the vibrant city life in Amsterdam or the intimate campus atmosphere in Breukelen.

Not all rewards come after you graduate

Throughout the three years of program, you will embark on a Personal Leadership and Development journey. You will get to know what type of leader you are, what motivates you and what you’re passionate about. During the different sessions, you will work alongside your classmates on different skills such as negotiation, stakeholder management, professional business writing, and many more.

  • International Exchange program: In the third year, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in a different culture and education system through our international exchange program. By studying abroad at a prestigious international university, you'll broaden your perspective and develop an international mindset.
  • Sports: You will get to play sports at least twice a week. We strongly believe having sports integrated in our program stimulates teamwork, learning from peers and a healthy body and mind.
  • Company Project: Your education doesn't end in the classroom. In your second year, you'll put your knowledge into practice through our Company Project. Our expert faculty will guide you as you work on real-life solutions and apply your academic know-how

 

Choose your own Nyenrode Experience!

The BSc in Business Administration (BScBA) offers you the possibility to follow your studies in two unique locations: Amsterdam or Breukelen. Each location provides you with a different Nyenrode Business University experience based on your preferences. What fits you? Campus life or city life in the Netherlands? 

City life in Amsterdam

The Amsterdam building is located in the heart of the city alongside one of the main canals (Keizersgracht). We offer students access to the business network in Amsterdam. In addition, we offer a business incubator, a lounge with its own bar for food and drinks and numerous events, like breakfast sessions, to connect our student community (Bachelor, Master and MBA students) with the business world.

Studying the Bachelor Business Administration in Amsterdam means enjoying flexibility to the fullest. You can decide whether you want to join the Nyenrode Amsterdam Study association (JCV) or any student activities outside of Nyenrode. The Amsterdam Campus is vivid, entrepreneurial, international and highly connected to business.  Experience our Campus in Amsterdam in a virtual tour.

Nyenrode facilitates students with the possibility to live at Campus Diemen Zuid, a students residence complex located 15 minutes from Amsterdam Central Station.  

Campus life in Breukelen

The campus is situated on a historical estate with a thirteenth century castle at its heart. You can enjoy everything this unique setting has to offer. It is the perfect environment to dedicate three years to your own development. Some of the facilities included are: a library, private study rooms, sports (Rugby field / tennis court / hockey and soccer fields / gym), a student restaurant, housing and two bars. 

Studying the Bachelor in Business Administration in Breukelen allows you to fully focus on your student life while becoming an active member of the NCV (Student Association). You can participate in its numerous committees while practicing your business and social skills. 

The campus also welcomes professionals on a daily basis for executive education programs, enabling you as a student to connect. By living and studying on campus, you will create a network of friends for life.

International Baccalaureate (IB) certificate*

  • Mathematics  'Analysis & Approaches' Standard Level minimum grade of 5 / Higher Level minimum grade of 4
  • Mathematics 'Applications & Interpretations' Higher Level minimum grade of 5.
  • Mathematics 'Applications & Interpretations' Standard Level: not admissible to the BScBA program.
  • Math Studies: not admissible to the BScBA program.
  • Sufficient Level of English, entrance level B2 (IELTS 6.0).

European Baccelaurate (EB) diploma*

  • Mathematics (minimal of 5 hours) minimum grade of 7 | or (minimal of 3 hours) minimum grade of 8.
  • Sufficient Level of English, entrance level B2 (IELTS 6.0).

General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level

  • 3 A levels with a required minimum grade of C and a required minimum grade of B for Mathematics
  • 3 GCSE's in 6 different subjects with a grade of C or higher.

We advise IB, EB, GCE students who do not meet the above stated requirements to pass the admissions exam (Vwo) at Boswell-Bèta in Utrecht. The Online Mathematics Placement Test (OMPT-A)  is also an option. You need to obtain the OMPT-A with a minimum score of 75%. 

American High School Diploma

  • A minimum 3.0 GPA PLUS a minimum of 4 Advanced Placement (AP) exams with a minimum score of 4Only 1 language AP is accepted, and no AP’s accepted in the category Arts, Research, Capstone, Seminar.
  • Mathematics minimum grade of B+ for pre-calculus AND IBA mathematics exam (Exemption  for students who have taken the College Board exam AP Calculus AB or BC, minimum score of 4). Sufficient Level of English, entrance level B2 (IELTS 6.0).
  • SAT and ACT are not applicable. 

Vwo diploma
Sufficient grade for Mathematics A or B and English.

Havo diploma (sufficient grade for Mathematics A or B) + HBO Propaedeutic
Applicants who obtained an Hbo Propedaeutic need to pass the Online Mathematics Placement Test (OMPT-A) with a score of 75%. Sufficient English level.

    We will evaluate your diploma on an individual basis. Please provide an academic transcript with a diploma supplement explaining your country's grading system in your application package if possible.  

    Do you match one of the requirements for the program? Than you can start your application for the BScBA! By using the green button you can start your application as follows:

    1. Please fill out every section of this application form carefully. The application form does not have to be completed at once but can be saved to continue at a later time. Submitting a motivation letter and a (provisional) list of grades is an important part of the form. Thus, allowing yourself enough time to write your motivational letter and collect all required documents is recommended. Please note that incomplete applications will not be processed.
    2. After evaluating your application package, you will hear whether you are invited to the interview process which will also include an admissions exam (LTP test).
    3. In order to assess your complete application, we look at your motivation, test scores, personality, and previous international activities.

    Each academic year a couple selection days will take place. After you handed in your application, admissions will check whether you have the requirements to get accepted. If so, you will be invited to start the selection process, which consist out of an LTP-test and selection day. During this selection day you will do a group assignment and have a personal interview with alumni and program management. 

    For this program we only have a limited number of places available. Therefore, it is recommended to be on time with submitting your application. There is also a higher change of being selected for your first choice of preference (Amsterdam or Breukelen).

    • Early bird deadline: March 25th, 2024. Anyone who applies before this date, is accepted, and registers to start the program will receive a discount (of 300 euros) on the first down payment. Candidates who are rejected or withdraw after acceptance will not receive a waiver on their selection costs. The selection fee is charged before a LTP test is taken.
    • Scholarship application deadline: March 25th, 2024. Please refer to the 'Scholarships' section for more information

    Internship or working Visa

    If you are a student who is currently enrolled at a university in the Netherlands:

    • EU nationality: EU nationals do not need a visa to study or work in The Netherlands.
    • Non-EU nationality:
      • Internship: if you are in in the possession of a student visa, you are required to have an internship agreement which needs to be co-signed by your company as well as your educational institution. No extra permit or visa is required.
      • Working: you need a specific work permit that needs to be requested by your employer. Also, your working time is limited to 16 hours per week except for the vacation period (June, July and August). During this period, you can work full-time. Please check the detailed information here.

      Opening a Dutch bank account

      If you do not have a SEPA-account in an EU country, we strongly advise you to open a Dutch Bank Account after your arrival to facilitate money withdrawals, buying everyday products, and/or (international) transactions.

      To create an account with a Dutch bank, you'll usually need a BSN (social security number), which is granted once you register with your local municipality. However, each bank may have its own set of requirements. The most significant are:

      • A valid identity document (for non-EU students/scholars: passport).
      • A Dutch address for the duration of your stay.
      • A proof of university enrollment.

      Please look into your options to see which one is the greatest fit for you. The big three banks in The Netherlands are:

      *SEPA stands for Single Euro Payments Area.

      Living in Breukelen

      The campus has five buildings for student housing. They have been named after people who have contributed a lot to the university: Postma, Weijer, Kuneman, Klaasesz, and Philips (subdivided into Roeterink I & II, Riemsdijk and Otten). There are 295 rooms and three-room types in these buildings (Furnished/Unfurnished/Kitchen).

      Housing allowance can be granted based on the calculation and advice from the housing department and after deducting the allowance, the average monthly fee of this housing is around  €320 - €500 per month. For all information about housing on campus in Breukelen, view this page.

      To ensure everyone feels at home on campus, we also offer a number of facilities to make sure you can live, work and relax in comfort. Among the facilities at our campus you’ll find a living room, a student restaurant (Mensa), cubicles for project and group work, a laundromat, an outdoor kitchen with barbecue, and various sports accommodations.

      Living in Amsterdam

      Nyenrode offers students the opportunity of living on Campus Diemen-Zuid,  a student residence complex. The complex is located 15 minutes from Amsterdam Central Station. 

      OurDomain houses a lively student community and several facilities such as: a supermarket (open 7 days a week), restaurants, cafés, a fitness center, a print shop, a launderette, and study-rooms. A furnished apartment at OurDomain costs about € 1.000  - € 1.200 per month, depending on the type of apartment.

      All apartments at OurDomain feature a living area, a modern bathroom and open kitchen. The monthly rent includes bicycle parking, TV and internet subscriptions, gym membership, and access to the tennis court and study halls. The monthly rent is excluding service costs and utility advances. No housing allowance granted.

      This information is necessary for students who are graduating or who graduated from Dutch universities.

      • EU nationality: EU nationals do not need a visa to stay or work in The Netherlands after graduation.
      • Non-EU nationality: Non-EU graduates can apply for Orientation Year Visa for staying and working in The Netherlands after graduation. This visa allows you to have free access to opening your own business or being hired by a company for one year. To be eligible for this visa, you should satisfy the conditions that IND announces.

      Transferring to Nyenrode

      Based on the classes you have taken in your current program or course, you may be able to transfer to the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Nyenrode. We do recommend you start our course from the first year, allowing you to follow the same path as your fellow students. We are happy to help you in any way we can, please contact us for personalized advice.

      Exchange at Nyenrode?

      In the third and final year of our BScBA program, our students spend a semester abroad at one of our partner universities. In return, students from these partner universities make their way to our campus in Breukelen for a unique experience as an exchange student in the Netherlands. This could be you!

      What are the costs?

      The tuition fees* for the August 2024 intake for the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration are as follows:

      • Tuition fees: €22.500 (1st year), €23.500 (2nd year), € 25.000 (3rd year)
      • Admissions fee: €300
      • Course materials: costs range from €750, to €900
      • Housing in Breukelen: various types of rooms are available on campus. The costs vary from € 320 to €500. For all information about housing on campus in Breukelen, view this page.
      • Housing in Amsterdam: Nyenrode offers students the opportunity of living on Campus Diemen-Zuid (just outside of Amsterdam). The costs vary from € 900 to €1.200. If you have questions about living in Amsterdam and possibilities, please contact one of the program advisor

      Financing

      For talented students with limited financial resources there are a number of possibilities to (partly) finance your studies:

      Scholarships eligible for all students to apply:

      • Revolving Scholarship*- Stichting Nyenrode Fonds (or Nyenrode Fund) offers students the opportunity to apply for one of the scholarships (of maximum € 10,000 per year) that will be made available by Nyenrode alumni. Somewhere during your career you give back to the fund by offering a scholarship to a new Nyenrode student yourself. For more info about the application process and criteria, click here.
      • Program Scholarships* - Nyenrode offers a number of scholarships each year for students with special motivations and backgrounds (of maximum € 10,000 per year). Would you like to know more? Contact one of our program advisors via BScBA@Nyenrode.nl.

      * Please note that it is possible to apply for both scholarships and to combine them. You may use the same motivation letter and financial plan.

      Scholarships only for specific nationalities or loans for Dutch students:
      • The Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Business Administration is a recognized degree program, which makes it possible for students with a Dutch nationality or EU/EEA citizens to apply for student financing through DUO in many cases. Contact DUO to discuss your personal options.
