Executive ESG topic modules for board & senior level leaders
Today’s leaders face complex challenges. What’s happening in the world, what does the EU Directive on ESG entail? What does it mean strategically for reporting in companies? What’s the impact on and the role of companies and their board members (CFO, CEO, audit committee)?
Today’s leaders face many challenges. Knowing that there is a Paris Agreement since 2015, current upcoming EU legislation really forces many organizations into action. This program aims to provide guidance on:
- How to address ESG regulations: support leaders to adjust their organization to the requirements the EU Directive on ESG set. What does it mean strategically for reporting but also for strategy in companies? What’s the impact on and the role of companies and their board members (CFO, CEO, audit committee)? What are the risks, but also the opportunities?
- How to handle the complexity of the changes needed, how to navigate through insecure times, when there is no best practice available yet, how to use innovation techniques to become resilient. How to move and act without knowing an exact outcome in order to anticipate on risks and opportunities.
- How to change a fragmented ESG approach in business to an integrated approach.

By participating in our Executive ESG Topic Modules, leaders in organizations learn on specific ESG topics supporting them to drive and lead change with confidence on ESG. Approximately every month a specifict ESG-topic is addressed by combining cutting-edge research from expert Nyenrode faculty with case studies and insights by KMPG specialists. In an interactive setting you will be immersed in a specialist theme, accompanied by committed peers.
By participating in one or more of the modules, leaders in organizations:
- Have up to date knowledge about the effects of specialist ESG-topics in leading business transformation;
- Are aware of the complexity and impact of ESG in organizations & transitions;
- Develop an eco-systems view on transformation;
Are inspired and more confident towards driving and leading the ESG business transformation.
This program is part of the ESG Innovation Institute, a collaboration between KPMG and Nyenrode Business Universiteit.

Who do you get lectured by?
Professor
Prof Dr Ruud Vergoossen RA is Full Professor of Financial Accounting and Director of the Center for Corporate Reporting, Finance & Tax.
Associate Professor
Dr. René P. Orij is an associate professor at the Center for Corporate Reporting, Finance & Tax. He teaches and performs research.
Vice-Rector Magnificus
Barbara Majoor is the director of the center Accounting, Auditing & Control. Her research concentrates on audit quality, auditing standards, ethics with a special focus on the behavioral aspects and incentives of audit quality.

Prof. dr. Dennis Vink is Professor of Finance and Investment at Nyenrode Business Universiteit.
Professor
Prof. dr. Tom Berkhout MRE MRICS is Professor of Real Estate at Nyenrode Business University. He is also Director of Nyenrode’s Real Estate Center and academically responsible for the Master of Tax Law. His main research fields are real estate (tax, reporting, finance, valuation, economics, markets,) and tax law.

Partner Audit KPMG Nederland
He has been working at KPMG since 1989; as partner since 2002. Over the years he has gained a lot of experience in various industries such as real estate, banks, construction companies and non-profit organizations in Western and Central Europe, Asia and America, among others.

The topic ESG & Reporting brings you up to date in one day about the latest developments in the field of ESG reporting and focuses on what you as a leader have to do to contribute to this transition.

The topic modules are for board & senior level leaders with a basic knowledge on ESG desired.

What are the costs?
The investment for the program is € 1295 program costs and € 79 accommodation costs, such as catering during the day. The amounts are exclusive of VAT and including any study materials. It is possible to follow one or more Executive ESG Topic Modules*. The topics take place approximately monthly and deal with the most current and relevant themes regarding ESG transformation. You will receive the latest academic insights from Nyenrode lecturers combined with the experiences from practice by KPMG speakers.
*After following your first topic module, you will receive a 10% discount on the program costs for each subsequent participation. The € 79 remains unchanged.
