Prof. dr. Sally K. Widener is Trevillian Distinguished Professor Emerita aan Clemson University (VS) en gasthoogleraar Management Accounting & Control aan Nyenrode Business Universiteit.

Voordat zij bij Clemson University kwam, bekleedde Widener verschillende academische functies aan de Colorado State University en de Jones Graduate School of Management aan de Rice University. Ze werkte ook als auditor bij Price Waterhouse en in verschillende controller- en interne auditfuncties bij een Fortune 500-bedrijf.

Ze heeft een BBA (major in accounting) van de University of Houston, een Masters in Accounting van de Colorado State University en een PhD in Business Administration van de University of Colorado in Boulder. Haar proefschrift was “The Strategic Use of Human Capital and the Design of the Management Control System” onder begeleiding van Prof. Frank H. Selto.

Haar primaire onderzoeksinteresses zijn het begrijpen van het ontwerp van managementcontrolesystemen en de gerelateerde gedragseffecten die werknemers ervaren.
