Can I still apply if I missed the application deadline?

The application deadline was March 17, 2025 for the 2025/2026 academic year.  Did you miss this deadline but it is still at least one month before the start of the PhD at the beginning of September? Please contact the PhD support office via phd@nyenrode.nl to discuss your options. If the PhD is not yet at full capacity, we may be able to accept a late application. However, like all applications, an acceptance relies on aspects such as the full application package, on supervisory capacity, and on whether you are able to take part in the required courses of the first phase of your PhD.

How can I find professors willing and able to supervise my PhD project?

If you have a personal contact with one of our professors or associate professors with promotion rights, you may contact him or her directly to discuss whether (s)he is interested and willing to supervise your PhD project. Please keep in mind that if the professor indicates that (s)he would like to act as your supervisor this does not guarantee acceptance into the PhD.

It is not necessary to connect with a potential supervisor before applying to Nyenrode’s part-time PhD. Potential supervisors are part of the selection committee and therefore if you are invited for a selection interview, you will have the opportunity to meet with (a) potential supervisor(s).

How many candidates do you accept each year?

We admit up to 15 part-time PhD students annually. This ensures each candidate receives personalized support and dedicated guidance throughout their research journey.

Where can I receive mail?

Each building has central mailboxes at the entrance. Your mailbox corresponds to your Nyenrode address, which we state in your rental agreement. You can pick up packages at the Servicepoint or have them delivered via MyPup.

Do you have a floor plan of my accomodation?

A floor plan is available for each student residence, which can be requested from the Housing & Projects department.

Can I paint or wallpaper my rental housing?

You are expected to leave the place as you found it. All walls are white (RAL 9010). You are not allowed to drill holes in the walls. Please check your rental agreement's terms and conditions before making any changes to avoid disappointment (and future issues).

What color is my interior?

The curtains are gray and the walls are white. Floor colors vary. For an impression, please check the photo gallery.

Can I place a small kitchen or hot plate in my accommodation?

No, this is strictly not allowed – by order of the fire brigade. Moreover, it could cause power outages or surges.

What are 'Additional costs'?

Costs for amenities such as water, power, garbage removal en window cleaning.

What are the cost for shared housing?

The rent for shared housing is calculated as follows: 'Rent' + 'Additional costs' + Partner charge' divided by two.

Do I need to register with the local municipality?

Yes, you need to register with the Municipality of Stichtse Vecht. You can do this online at any time with DigiD, or in person at the Town Hall in Maarssen. Please note: you have to register within 5 days of your arrival.

Can I bring my pet to Campus?

Pets are not allowed on Campus.

Can I bring my car on Campus when I am moving in or out?

During the general 'moving-in weekend' – dates will be announced – you can bring a car or (small) truck onto Campus. If you move on a different day, you need to request a parking exemption from Campus Security.

Can I view my accommodation before moving in?

You are most welcome to come and take a look at our campus. You can make an appointment with our caretaker. He will then show you the campus.

Can I request a specific room or location?

It is possible to pass on your preference(s). The Housing & Projects department will check whether there is a student house available that (partly) meets your preferences. It may also happen that there is no student house that meets your preferences and then the most suitable one will be selected.
