What is the difference between Full-time MSc in Management and Impact MBA Full-time?

The main difference between the Full-time MSc in Management and the full-time Impact MBA lies in the demographics and level of experience of the students and the learning focus of the program. The MSc in Management is designed for early-career graduates or young professionals with limited work experience. It focuses on building a strong foundation in management, strategy and organizational skills, often as a first step after a bachelor’s degree.

The Impact MBA, by contrast, is intended for professionals with several years of work experience. It builds on prior professional knowledge and focuses on leadership development, strategic decision-making and responsible business impact. Classroom discussions are enriched by participants’ real-world experience. In short, the MSc prepares you for your first management roles, while the Impact MBA helps you grow as an experienced leader.

Why is accreditation important when choosing an executive MBA in the Netherlands

Accreditation is an important indicator of quality and recognition. Nyenrode Business University is accredited by NVAO and meets internationally recognized academic standards. Accreditation ensures rigorous curriculum design, qualified faculty and continuous quality assurance. For participants, this adds credibility and recognition to the MBA qualification. Choosing an accredited executive MBA helps ensure that your investment is valued by employers and recognized across markets.

What networking opportunities does the Impact MBA Executive offer?

The Impact MBA Executive offers strong networking opportunities through its diverse cohort, faculty and Nyenrode’s active alumni network. Small class sizes encourage meaningful peer interaction and long-term professional relationships. Group projects and on-campus modules further strengthen connections within the cohort. Graduates become part of Nyenrode’s wider business network in the Netherlands and internationally, supporting ongoing collaboration and learning.

What are the costs and return on investment of an executive MBA?

An executive MBA represents a strategic investment in long-term leadership development. The Impact MBA Executive combines academic rigor with direct application in the workplace. Return on investment is often reflected in career progression, expanded responsibilities, increased strategic influence and personal growth. Many participants experience value during the program, not only after graduation. Employer contributions and continued income during the program are also important factors in evaluating overall return on investment.

What is the difference between a part-time MBA and an executive MBA in the Netherlands?

An executive MBA is designed for professionals with substantial managerial or leadership experience. The Impact MBA Executive builds on participants’ real-world responsibilities and strategic challenges. Classroom discussions assume professional maturity and focus on leadership impact, organizational change and strategic decision-making. Part-time MBAs may target a broader range of career stages. The executive MBA format of Impact MBA is therefore particularly suited to senior professionals seeking advanced leadership development.

How does the Impact MBA Executive support personal leadership development?

Personal leadership development is a central component of the Impact MBA Executive. Participants follow a structured leadership journey that includes self-reflection, feedback, coaching and practical application. This journey helps executives deepen self-awareness, refine leadership style and understand their impact on others. Leadership development is integrated throughout the program rather than addressed in a single course. The focus is on leading responsibly, navigating complexity and driving sustainable change at an organizational level.

Can my employer support or sponsor my executive Impact MBA?

Yes. Many participants receive employer support or sponsorship for the Impact MBA Executive. Support may include tuition contributions; study leave or flexible working arrangements. Because participants remain employed, learning outcomes often deliver immediate organizational value. Employers frequently view the executive Impact MBA as part of leadership development or succession planning. Nyenrode can provide program information to support discussions with employers about structure, time allocation and return on investment.

Does the executive Impact MBA require weekly classes or frequent campus presence?

No. The Impact MBA Executive does not follow a weekly class structure. Instead, learning takes place through planned modules spread across the two-year program (one a month from Wednesday to Saturday). This approach reduces the need for frequent campus visits while maintaining academic depth and continuity. Between modules, participants engage in assignments, group work and leadership development alongside their full-time roles. The format is designed to support senior professionals who need predictability and flexibility.

How is the Impact MBA Executive structured and in which format?

The Impact MBA Executive is delivered in a monthly format, with teaching blocks scheduled well in advance, from Wednesday until Saturday. Modules typically consist of these consecutive on-campus days, combined with preparation and follow-up assignments. This structure allows participants to plan around professional responsibilities while benefiting from focused, in-depth learning moments. Between modules, participants continue working and applying insights in their own organizations. The monthly setup also strengthens cohort cohesion, as participants spend concentrated time together on campus.

Is an executive MBA in the Netherlands suitable for working professionals?

Yes. The Impact MBA Executive is specifically designed for working professionals and managers who want to develop their leadership capabilities without leaving their jobs. The part-time structure enables participants to apply academic insights directly to their organizations. Real business challenges often form the basis of classroom discussions and assignments. This makes the executive Impact MBA particularly suitable for professionals aiming to grow into more senior or strategic roles while maintaining career momentum.

Is the Impact MBA Executive a part-time, two-year English-taught program in the Netherlands?

Yes. The Impact MBA Executive is a part-time, 24-month MBA program taught entirely in English, designed for experienced professionals who want to continue working while studying. The program allows participants to combine advanced management education with ongoing professional responsibilities. It attracts a diverse cohort of Dutch and international professionals from diverse industries and sectors. The English-taught format makes the program accessible to executives working in international environments or organizations with a global focus.

When should I apply for the September intake of the full-time Impact MBA?

For the September intake, international candidates are advised to apply as early as possible. Early application increases the likelihood of securing a spot in the next class, applying for scholarships and completing visa and housing arrangements in time. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and specific deadlines may apply for scholarships and non-EU applicants. The admissions team can advise you on the most suitable application timeline based on your personal situation.

What makes the Impact MBA different from a traditional full-time MBA?

The Impact MBA integrates responsible leadership, sustainability and long-term value creation throughout the curriculum. Business fundamentals are combined with ethical decision-making, stakeholder management and societal impact. Leadership development focuses on building strong foundations, self-awareness and responsible decision-making. Sustainability and impact are not treated as separate topics but embedded across courses and projects. This approach prepares graduates to navigate complex global challenges early in their leadership careers.

What housing options are available for full-time Impact MBA students?

Nyenrode offers on-campus housing options for full-time Impact MBA participants, subject to availability. The residential campus in Breukelen (located between Amsterdam and Utrecht) provides an immersive learning environment that supports academic focus and peer interaction. Living on campus enables students to participate fully in group work, on-campus activities and networking opportunities. Some international students choose private accommodation in the surrounding region. Guidance on housing options and timelines is provided after admission.

What job opportunities are available after completing an MBA in the Netherlands?

Graduates of a full-time MBA in the Netherlands benefit from a strong international business environment with many multinational organizations, scale-ups and purpose-driven companies. The Impact MBA prepares international students for leadership and management roles across sectors. Non-EU graduates may be eligible for the Dutch Orientation Year (Zoekjaar), allowing them to remain in the Netherlands to seek employment after graduation. Career outcomes depend on prior experience, industry focus and labor market conditions. Nyenrode supports students through career development activities and access to its international network.

Is the full-time Impact MBA suitable for a career switch?

Yes. The full-time Impact MBA is particularly suitable for professionals seeking a career switch or career acceleration. The 14-month, immersive format allows participants to step back from their current role and reposition themselves professionally. Through core business courses, leadership development and group projects, participants build transferable skills applicable across industries and functions. Career development activities support reflection on strengths, ambitions and next steps. Unlike part-time or executive MBA formats, the full-time MBA format offers the space to explore new directions without the demands of ongoing employment.

Can I apply for the full-time Impact MBA without a GMAT score?

Yes, it is possible to apply for the full-time Impact MBA without a GMAT score. Nyenrode uses a holistic admissions approach, assessing your academic background, professional experience, motivation and leadership potential. In some cases, the admissions committee may request an alternative assessment to demonstrate quantitative or analytical skills (LTP competence test). This ensures all participants are well prepared for the academic level of the program. Whether a GMAT or alternative assessment is required depends on your individual profile and will be discussed during the admissions process.

Are there MBA scholarships available in the Netherlands for international students?

Yes. Nyenrode Business University offers scholarships for international students admitted to the full-time Impact MBA. Scholarships are awarded based on academic background, professional experience, leadership potential and motivation. Scholarships usually provide a partial tuition fee reduction and are limited in number. Applicants are encouraged to apply early, as scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis. In addition to Nyenrode scholarships, international students may explore external funding options or educational loans. Scholarship applications are submitted as part of the admissions process.

Can international students work during a full-time MBA in the Netherlands?

Because the Impact MBA is a full-time and intensive program, most participants prioritize their studies and campus engagement. Combining work with the program requires careful time management. The focus of the full-time MBA is on academic immersion, leadership development and career preparation after graduation rather than ongoing employment during the program. However, international students may work part-time during their studies, but specific regulations apply. Non-EU students are allowed to work up to 16 hours per week during the academic year, or full-time during the summer months, provided their employer obtains a work permit.

What are the visa requirements for non-EU students applying to the Impact MBA?

Non-EU and non-EEA applicants to the Impact MBA Full-time require a Dutch residence permit for study purposes. Nyenrode Business University supports admitted international students throughout the visa application process. Once you accept your offer and meet the academic and financial requirements, Nyenrode initiates the visa application with the Dutch Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) on your behalf. Guidance is provided on documentation, timelines and next steps. The residence permit allows you to live in the Netherlands for the duration of the full-time MBA. Early application is strongly recommended, as processing times can vary by country.
