Change Management and Organizational Development

To create a sustainable future, organizations need to operate in a responsible way with its human, material and financial resources to meet the needs and requirements of its customers and stakeholders. Sustainable, responsible organizations then seek to strike a balance between the pursuit of profit and the pursuit of the common good through a stewardship mindset. A transition of that magnitude calls for leaders to take a strong position in change management.  Changes in operational procedures can cause friction in the workforce. A long-running and complex transformation can even wear an organization out. So how do we implement change that is broadly supported? What circumstances do we need to create for successful transformation? These are the questions answered in the module Change Management & Organizational Development.

Successful organizational transformation through change management

In our module Change Management & Organizational Development, the focus is on understanding (the impact of) the dynamics of organizational change, learning and development at the organizational, team, and individual levels. Organizational change is an ambiguous, multifaceted concept that can be understood from many, potentially contradicting, angles. In the current, complex and shifting international context, change leadership not only asks for a rich understanding of change dynamics, it also requires insight into the impact of the implemented change initiatives. During the course of the module, you will develop the tools to both plan and lead change within your own organization, to create an environment in which people can flourish and in which beneficial activities can emerge.

  • Content matches the participants' work practice
  • Developing by learning from eachother
  • Tangible results by contributing your own case study

Change Management and Organizational Development

In the module Change Management and Organizational Development you discover how you can lead changes within your organization and what role the people you manage play in this process. To that end, we offer you insight in the latest theories, concepts and models, and stimulate discussion and debate between participants and speakers from the field. This approach enables you to apply your new knowledge to your daily practice immediately. Finally, you will work on a case from your own organization and receive practical input on the challenges you face.

The program is divided into three blocks. Each block focuses on a specific selection of topics that are related to change management and organizational development. The blocks are closely related to each other and interlinked.

  • Strategic (planned) organizational change in organizations
  • Organizational development: developing and increasing the problem solving, change readiness, and the learning and performing capabilities of individuals, groups, teams, networks, communities, platforms, and organizations.
  • “Just” doing organizational change…. The role and impact of change agents.

What’s in it for you?

  • You can apply everything you have learned to ‘real-life’ change and development activities in organizations
  • You understand the differences and similarities between the concepts organizational change (OC), organizational development (OD), human resources management (HRM), and human resources development (HRD)
  • you can design a strategic (planned) change plan and translate this plan into a set of concrete interventions in a real-life organization
  • you know how to integrate an organizational change and organization learning development plan into a personal action plan (“This is how you do it.”)
  • you will be familiar with the concepts power, influence, politics, psychological contract, and courage within the context of designing and developing a personal action plan
