In recent decades, the optimization of production processes was mainly focused on making profit. Nowadays there is also an increasing focus on environmental and societal impact. This transition calls for new leadership. To best prepare students for their future leadership roles, Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management and Analytics, Taher Ahmadi, developed a Multi-Objective Line Balancing (MOLB) game. This game has led to positive reactions both nationally and internationally.

The board of Nyenrode Business Universiteit will conduct a factual investigation into the origins of the Dutch Education Institute for the Abroad (N.O.I.B., predecessor of Nyenrode), including its founders. The research should answer the question as to what extent the founders allowed Dutch interests in the Dutch East Indies to play a role in the establishment of the N.O.I.B. in 1946.

Auditors are able to work more transparently and efficiently by using Bayesian statistics. That is the main conclusion of Koen Derks’ research, who obtains his doctorate from Nyenrode Business University today. Techniques to apply Bayesian statistics in the audit have been made freely accessible by Derks, through the open-source program JASP. “Auditors should be bold enough to deviate from ways already paved more often.”

This year, once again, the master’s degree programs of Nyenrode Business University receive high ratings for practical orientation and the connection with the corporate world and the government. This is evident from the Keuzegids Masters 2023 (Resource Guide Masters 2023) that was published last week. The students are in particular above average satisfied with the master’s degree programs Controlling, Executive Master of Finance & Control and Management.

René Orij, who recently was appointed as full professor at Nyenrode Business Universiteit, has conducted important research in this area.

As of January 1, 2023, Jeroen Veldman has been appointed as Professor of Corporate Governance at Nyenrode Business University. As Professor, Veldman will conduct research into the institutional embedding of Corporate Governance. His main focus will be on the question of how laws and regulations, codes and behavior change in the context of transitions.
